The November Tampa Comic and Toy Convention proved to be a tremendous success for local comic book publisher Fierce Comics.  The event, held three times each year at the Doubletree hotel in Tampa, attracts comic book and toy collectors, dealers, and creative talent from around the southeast.

“We’re very pleased with the overwhelmingly positive response we received for Redneck Red.  Our fan base is growing rapidly, and we’re looking forward to meeting their expectations with this new series,” said Ben Filipiak, founder of Fierce Comics and co-author of Redneck Red.  To promote the new series, the company provided free Redneck Red posters and conducted three drawings for gift certificates to local comic shops.

Scott Reed, the illustrator, inker, and colorist for the book, was also in attendance offering commissions and showcasing the inked pages for issue one.  “Redneck Red is not your typical hero comic book.  The interest in the book we saw at the Tampa convention really proved that we’re on to something unique,” said Pat Batton, co-author of the book.  Fierce Comics will also be an exhibitor at the Tampa Comic and Toy Convention in May, 2007.
