Fierce Comics to Release Maniacal Smile Omnibus at New York Comic Con

Fierce Comics to Release 460-Page Book Documenting More Than Ten Years of The Maniacal Smile

St. Petersburg, Tuesday, October 7th, 2011 11:00 am EST

Fierce Comics today announced that it will release a 460-page Omnibus collecting all of the Maniacal Smile’s pre-Fierce Comics work, at the 2011 New York Comic Con, held October 13-16, at the Javits Center in Midtown Manhattan.

The Omnibus collects all of the early work of Maniacal Smile creator, Rob Rhine, including original concept art from 1997, several volumes of original stories, and ash can editions that all predate the title’s association with Fierce Comics.  “Fierce Fans often ask for those old books from Smiley’s early days,” said Rhine.  “It took a great deal of searching, but we were able to find even the rarest of the original material.  It’s pretty amazing to see Smiley’s evolution from the beginning to where he is now.”

The book contains all the original material in its original format, with no edits.  “It’s so refreshing to read a comic book that is out to have FUN and not conform to some standard company formula that has so many hands in the creative pot that they are afraid to take chances… to stir things up,” said industry veteran Bill Maus, who provided the book’s foreword.  A limited number of preview edition copies of the Omnibus will be available to purchase at the New York Comic Con.
